The holidays combined with the snow prevented me from getting to a practice this week, so I’m grateful that Tips broadcaster Jon Rosen provided an update on defenseman Shayne Brown during the pregame of tonight’s broadcast. He said Brown, while not back at full speed, is participating in practices again. That’s good news for Everett as he’s been off the ice for more than two months. If he’s able to get back into the lineup that’s a nice boost for the Tips. The way defensemen have been in short supply this season, his return would be akin to making a free pickup of a top-four D-man at the trade deadline.
Also, I’m looking forward to getting my first look at ShoWare Center, the Seattle Thunderbirds’ new home in Kent, at the curtain raiser tomorrow night. I was scheduled to take a tour of the building before the Christmas break (for the story that ran in this morning’s paper, check the link to the left for that one), but again that pesky snow intruded. I’ll post my take on the Sho sometime after tomorrow’s game.
