EVERETT — Andres Sosa scored on an RBI groundout by Riley Tirotta in the top of the ninth inning and the Vancouver Canadians held on to beat the slumping Everett AquaSox 9-8 on Thursday night at Funko Field.
Charlie Welch hit a two-run single in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game at 8-8, but the AquaSox couldn’t pull off the comeback and suffered their fifth straight loss and 12th in their past 14 games.
Ben Ramirez went 3-for-4, including his second home run, and drove in three runs, and Welch finished 2-for-5 with two RBI for the AquaSox.
Juan Mercedes started on the mound for Everett (50-60) and allowed four runs on six hits in four innings. Mercedes struck out seven and walked one.
PK Morris went 4-for-5 with a home run and four RBI, and Rainer Nunez homered and drove in two for Vancouver (57-50).
