EVERETT – Let the emotional roller coaster ride begin.
The Cascade Bruins built a double-digit lead through three quarters and then held on for a hard-fought 33-31 victory over Lynden in the girls basketball non-conference season opener for both teams Wednesday.
In the fourth quarter, Lynden’s trapping defense disrupted Cascade’s offensive flow. Five different players scored as Lynden outscored the Bruins 12-1 and closed to within two points.
Lynden had possession of the ball with a chance to tie the score or take the lead in the final seconds, but Cascade’s Whitney Hooks, Liz Gross and Gina Delos Reyes forced a turnover.
