Four games stand between the Cascade Bruins girls soccer team and perfection.
Western Conference North Division champion Cascade (17-0 overall) completed an unbeaten regular season with a 2-0 victory over South champion Shorewood last week. The Bruins begin their quest for a state championship with a first-round state playoff game against South Kitsap at 7 p.m. tonight at Everett Memorial Stadium.
A win tonight followed by three more would bring the Bruins a state championship.
Cascade dominated its Wesco competition, outscoring opponents 58-6 and posting 12 shutouts, including the last five games in a row. The Bruins have not allowed a goal since a 3-2 win over Marysville-Pilchuck on Oct. 13.
In other 4A first-round games, Shorewood hosts Shelton at 7 p.m. tonight at Shoreline Stadium and Shorecrest plays Tahoma at 7 p.m. Wednesday at French Field in Kent.
In a 3A opener tonight, Meadowdale plays White River at 7:30 p.m. at Lynnwood H.S. The Mavericks, who are making their fifth straight state tournament appearance, are looking for their first first-round victory during that span.
In the 2A tournament, Sultan plays Klahowya at 7 p.m. tonight at Edmonds Stadium.
Tonight’s winners advance to the quarterfinals to be played Friday or Saturday.
Archbishop Murphy has already qualified for the A/B quarterfinals and will play University Prep at 2 p.m. Saturday at Edmonds Stadium.
