Arlington High School girls take home fourth-place team trophy

PASCO — Cascade junior Jacob Hopkins claimed his third straight state title in the boys ambulatory race at the state cross country championships Saturday at Sun Willows Golf Course.

Hopkins shaved over 24 seconds off the course record time he set last year by finishing the 2.1-mile race in 12 minutes, 57.5 seconds. Arlington’s Ramon Little finished second.

Arlington girls finish fifth, Jackson eigthh

The Eagles girls team will take a fifth-place Class 4A trophy home after a race that featured 16 schools an 161 runners. Annabelle Klein placed 22nd, followed by Arlington teammates Brooke Henkin, Raelyn Oetzel, Ava Jensen, and Amelia Potong. District individual champion Selena Bangerter led all local runners in the 4A girls race, placing 20th to lead Jackson to an eighth-place team finish.

In the Class 4A boys race, Lake Stevens placed seventh, led by Breen Weston’s 29th place finish. Kamiak’s Colin Wear led all local runners, placing 16th.

The Shorewood boys finished sixth in the Class 3A team standings, led by tenth-place Otto Erhart and 13th-place Max Billett.

King’s boys and girls win fourth-place trophies

The Knights will take home a pair of trophies after both the boys and girls teams finished fourth. Sophia Inglin led the girls team with a third-place finish, followed by teammates Lauren Belden, Alma Decker, Molly Kyler and Ashlyn Doonan. The boys were led by Evan Blair’s 16th place crossing, along strong showings from Nahom Getachew, Staser Simpson, Sam Richards and Elijah Trevino.
