The Archbishop Murphy boys soccer team’s streak of 50 consecutive Cascade Conference wins ended Thursday with a 1-0 loss to Cedarcrest.
It was the Wildcats’ first conference loss since falling to Cedarcrest in April 2014.
Archbishop Murphy, the three-time defending Class 2A state champion, had its overall 43-match win streak snapped last month in a season-opening draw against Pullman.
The Wildcats (7-2-2 overall, 7-1-0 Cascade Conference) entered Monday night atop the league standings with 21 points, holding a three-point lead over second-place King’s with four matches remaining for both teams. Archbishop Murphy is seeking its fifth consecutive outright league title.
