Silvertips athletic trainer Chris Walker has accepted an AHL job. Walker has been with the Tips the past four years. The identity of the team that Walker is joining was not disclosed.
I’ll always remember Walker as the guy who helped keep me entertained during the slow points in practices. And, of course, I’ll remember how he helped save a life following a game.
Walker becomes the latest member of the organization to depart this offseason, joining head coach Craig Hartsburg, associate head coach Jay Varady and broadcaster Jon Rosen. All but the head coaching position still need to be filled. This is eerily similar to the 2007 offseason, when the organization also went through major turnover. The previous exodus came after Everett’s first four seasons, and now this is a further four seasons later. So I guess the four-year mark is the standard tour of duty in the WHL, at least in Everett.
