Another entertaining, memorable high school basketball season is officially over.
The Class 3A and 2A state hoops championships wrapped up on Saturday in Tacoma and Yakima, respectively. Local teams walked away with some impressive hardware.
In the 3A boys tournament at the Tacoma Dome, the Glacier Peak Grizzlies of Snohomish placed fourth — incredible for a second-year program in its state debut — and the Meadowdale Mavericks of Lynnwood finished fifth, best in program history. To retrace Glacier Peak and Meadowdale’s paths, check out the 3A boys bracket.
Meanwhile, the Archbishop Murphy Wildcats finished strong at the 2A girls tournament in Yakima. One year after placing second in the state, Murphy snared the fifth-place trophy. Click here to see the final 2A girls bracket.
Even though the season is over, you can still enjoy some high school hoops action. There are several all-star events coming up, including one in Snohomish County.
The Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association All-State Boys Basketball Games are scheduled for March 20 at Mountlake Terrace High School. The three all-state games (1B versus 2B, 1A versus 2A, 3A versus 4A) are tentatively set to tip off at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Check here for more details, including rosters.
