TACOMA, Wash. — Maurice Tolliver scored 14 points and Alex Tennyson added 11 to lead hot-shooting Mount Tahoma to a 57-42 win over Cascade of Everett on Wednesday in the first round of the boys Class 4A state tournament.
The Thunderbirds (18-7) squeaked into the state tournament with the eighth and final seed from the West Central District, shot 48 percent and shot 5-for-10 on 3-pointers. Mount Tahoma took an early lead and extended the advantage to as many as 18.
Tolliver, a senior, also had five rebounds and four assists.
The Bruins (21-4) – the top-seed from the Northwest District – shot just 33 percent and made 2 of 15 3-point attempts. Marcus Guffey led Cascade with 16 points and six rebounds.
