Everett overage center Clayton Cumiskey, who’s been out since Oct. 1 because of a concussion, is making progress. Cumiskey’s return isn’t imminent, but he has passed the baseline test, which means he can now resume physical activity. The Tips hope to get him back in the lineup next week.
Cumiskey has been joined by three others on the sideline. Left wing Campbell Elynuik has a pulled muscle in his upper back, winger Markus McCrea has a concussion, and defenseman Alex Theriau has a strained groin. None will play Wednesday against Portland, but none are expected to be out long.
The injuries up front mean right wing Taylor Cote is scheduled to make his WHL debut against Portland.
And, of course, Tips coach Craig Hartsburg also misses Wednesday’s game as he undergoes the preliminary procedure for his heart surgery. Here’s hoping everything goes well with that.
