COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Seattle beats Portland St. on last-second 3

PORTLAND, Ore. — Aaron Broussard scored a game-high 21 points, including a 3-pointer with less than a second remaining, to lift Seattle past Portland State 80-77 on Sunday.

Cervante Burrell added 15 points and Charles Garcia had 12 for the Redhawks (11-13) in the nonconference game.

Julius Thomas led Portland State (10-13) with 19 points. Jamie Jones had 18 points and nine rebounds and Dominic Waters added 15 points for the Vikings.

Portland State led 60-52 after Jones’ rebound put-back with 11:50 remaining. Seattle battled back and took its first lead of the half 71-70 on two free throws by Garcia with 4:52 to play. Portland State went ahead 77-75 when Waters made two free throws with 1:46 left, but a lay-in by the Redhawks’ Alex Jones tied the game at 77 with 1:13 to go.

Portland State shot 50 percent from the field to Seattle’s 41 percent.

Sacramento St. 74, Eastern Washington 67

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Justin Eller scored 17 points and Duro Bjegovic came off the bench to add 13 points and eight rebounds for Sacramento State.

Jeffrey Forbes’ 18, Glen Dean’s 15 and Mark Dunn’s 11 points led the Eagles (6-18, 2-8). Eastern Washington has lost its last seven games.

After trailing by 12 points, the Eagles charged back to cut the Hornets’ lead to 62-59 on a 3-pointer by Kevin Winford with 2:22 left.

The Hornets outscored the Eagles 12-8 the rest of the way.

Syracuse 71, Cincinnati 54

CINCINNATI — Kris Joseph hit a pair of 3s that sparked Syracuse’s decisive second-half run Sunday, and the Orange kept the best start in school history going with a victory over Cincinnati — their 10th in a row.

Syracuse (23-1, 10-1 Big East) closed the game with a 28-5 run that featured Joseph’s two 3-pointers and a lot of good defense. Andy Rautins led the Orange with 20 points.

The Bearcats (14-9, 5-6) fell apart down the stretch, getting only one field goal and three free throws after pulling ahead 49-43 with 12:26 to go. Ibrahima Thomas led Cincinnati with a season-high 13 points.

No. 13 Ohio St. 68, Iowa 58

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Evan Turner matched his career high with 32 points, helping the Buckeyes stretch their Big Ten winning streak to seven.

Jon Diebler added 12 points for Ohio State (18-6, 8-3), which has won four in a row overall and seven of eight.

Eric May scored 16 points, Aaron Fuller and Cully Payne each added 11, and Matt Gatens had 10 for the Hawkeyes (8-16, 2-9), who have lost four in a row and have just one road victory this season.

It was Ohio State’s second win over the Hawkeyes in 12 days. The Buckeyes moved to 15-0 at home this season.
