Colorado 31, Eastern Washington 24: At Boulder, Colo., cornerback Cha’pelle Brown picked off a pass and returned it 27 yards to break a 24-24 tie with less than two minutes to play as the Buffaloes (2-0) rallied to beat the Eagles (0-2), a Football Championship Subdivision team.
Central Washington 48, Mesa St. 14: At Ellensburg, quarterback Mike Reilly completed 17 of 24 passes for 293 yards and four touchdowns as the Wildcats (2-0) beat the Mavericks (0-2) in an NCAA Division II game. Wide receiver Chris Rohrbach, a Meadowdale High alum, caught seven passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns, on of 24 yards and the other of 31 yards.
Western Oregon 36, Western Washington 27: At Bellingham, running back Ben Kuenzi scored a pair of second-half TDs to lead the Wolves (1-1, 1-0 GNAC) over the Vikings (0-1, 0-1) in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game. WWU’s Randall Eldridge, a Lynnwood High alum, rushed for 80 yards on 24 carries and also caught six passes for 68 yards and a TD. Wide receiver Travis McKee, a Bothell High alum, had five receptions for 96 yards and tight end Zach Hekker, also a Bothell High alum, caught two passes or 11 yeards and a TD for the Vikings.
