Baseball/softball

n The Northwest Baseball Academy is offering Hitting Camps from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and Pitching Camps from 6-8 p.m. on Sundays at its indoor facility in Lynnwood (18025 Highway 99). n Shockers Baseball is offering a Catchers Camp that runs through the end of March. The cost is $289. The camp is for players ages 10-18. For more information, call 425-870-9388.

n The USSSA needs umpires for its youth and adult leagues in Snohomish and King counties. The next training session is scheduled for Feb. 28. For more information, call Paul at 425-870-1043.

n Tryouts for the Puget Sound Senior Baseball League are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon (ages 21 and older) and noon to 2 p.m. (35 and up) on March 7, 21 and 28 at Bellevue Community College (3000 Landerholm Circle SE). For more information, call 425-957-1430.

Basketball

n The Kagerz Summer Traveling Girls Basketball Team is holding tryouts from 2-4 p.m. on March 1 at Edmonds Community College. The program is for current high school players and those who will be freshmen next year. For more information, call 425-744-1860.

n Kagerz Hoops is holding tryouts for its Boys Spring/Summer Select teams from 2-4 p.m. on March 1 at Edmonds Community College. The program is for players currently in high school and those who will be freshmen next year. For more information, call 425-744-1860.

n Registration for the Snohomish County Boys &Girls Club’s Spring Premier Basketball League runs through March 20. The cost is $550 per team. Games are on Sundays. For more information, call Paul at 425-774-3022.

n The WTA is hosting the fourth annual Winter Hang Time Basketball Tournament on Feb. 28 and March 1 at Mariner, Mountlake Terrace and Summit high schools. The event is for boys and girls teams in grades 4-9. The team fee is $225. For more information, call 425-744-1860.

Pickle Ball

n The Edmonds Parks and Recreation Department is offering an Indoor Pickle Ball League from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday nights at the Frances Anderson Center. Play begins March 10. The program is open to both men and women. The cost is $25. For more information, call Todd at 425-771-0229.

Running

n The 12th annual Smelt Run is scheduled for Feb. 28 in La Conner. The event offers 5- and 10-kilometer runs, a 2-mile Family Walk and a Kid’s Dash (ages 18 months to 6 years). Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. at La Conner Middle School. The entry fees are $20 and $35 (with shirt) for the runs; $15 and $30 for the walk; and $30 for a family of four walkers. The dash is free. Volleyball

n Registration for the Lake Stevens Boys &Girls Club’s 2009 Coed Spring Volleyball program is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. on March 2 and 5. The program is for players in grades 3-12. The cost is $80. For more information, call Dan at 425-377-0250.
