Three players from Snohomish County were members of the Helena Bighorns Hockey Club that won the 2011 USA Hockey Junior A Tier II national championship last week in Rochester, Minn.
The Bighorns’ roster included forwards Nolan Grauer, 20, of Mukilteo; Taylor Laneville, 20, of Lynnwood, and Ry
an Doner, 18, of Mukilteo.
The Bighorns, who are based in Helena, Mont., and compete in the Northern Pacific Hockey League, defeated the El Paso Rhinos of the Western States Hockey League 5-1 in the championship game to claim their first national title. Helena finished the season 69-3.
Rowing
Gina Biascoechea of Everett has been invited to the U-23 Women’s Pre-Elite National Team Camp. The camp, scheduled for June 12 to July 12 in Syracuse, N.Y., is designed to develop rowers for the U-23 and senior national teams.
Biascoechea is a sophomore on the Syracuse University women’s rowing team. She is a graduate of Archbishop Murphy High School and competed in crew for the Everett Rowing Association.
