MONROE — The father-and-son team of Mark and Cullen Hubbard won the first annual Interstate Batteries Built Tough 8 Hour Enduro on Sunday at Evergreen Speedway.
The Hubbards, from Seattle, won the race by six laps to claim the $4,000 first prize.
Another father-and-son team, Troy and Brett Fetzer of Everett, finished second on Brett’s 21st birthday.
The race started at 10 a.m. with 42 cars. By the 6 p.m. finish, 26 cars were still competing.
The Hubbards took the lead with about 2.5 hours remaining in the race.
“We heard we were up by three laps, so when the Fetzer team passed us a few times, I raced like crazy at the end,” Mark Hubbard said in a statement released by the speedway.
