Baseball/softball

— The Northwest Baseball Academy is offering Hitting Camps from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and Pitching Camps from 6-8 p.m. on Sundays at its indoor facility in Lynnwood (18025 Highway 99). Sessions begin in January and run into March. The program is for players ages 8-13. The hitting camps cost $100. The pitching camps cost $140. Enrollment ends March 7. — The Pacific Northwest Softball School is offering pitching clinics on Tuesday and Thursday evenings through February. The clinics, which take place in Everett, are for girls ages 8-18. For more information, call Lonnie Hicks at 360-659-9292 or 425-308-3834.

— Registration for Mill Creek Little League baseball and softball is scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15 at Heatherwood Middle School. The program is for players ages 5-18. Birth certificates are required. For more information, call 425-338-5410.

— The United States Slowpitch Softball Association (USSSA) needs umpires for youth and adult leagues in Snohomish and King counties. Training classes begin Jan. 31. For more information, call Paul at 425-870-1043.

— Registration for Alderwood Little League Baseball and Softball is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 24, and from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 27 at the Alderwood Boys &Girls Club. The programs are for boys and girls ages 5-18. For more information, call 425-775-5437.

— Registration for North Everett Little League Baseball and Softball is scheduled for the following elementary schools: Whittier (6:45-8:30 p.m., today); Hawthorne (6-8 p.m., Jan. 14); View Ridge (6-8 p.m., Jan. 15); Garfield (6-8 p.m., Jan. 16). — Registration for South Everett Little League Baseball and Softball is scheduled from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 19, 21, 27 and 29, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 24 and 31 at Madison Field in Everett (6515 Morgan Road). Birth certificates and proof of residency are required.

Basketball

— The WTA’s fourth annual Winter Jam Basketball Tournament is scheduled for Jan. 24-25 at Mariner and Summit high schools. The tournament is for boys and girls teams in grades 4-9. The team fee is $225. For more information, call 425-744-1860.

— The 35th annual Everett Elks Hoop Shoot free-throw contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Jan. 19 at the Everett High School gymnasium (2416 Wetmore Ave). The free program is for boys and girls ages 8-13. For more information, call 425-252-4179.

Dancing

— Tryouts for the Snohomish County Explosion’s dance team are scheduled for 3 p.m. on Jan. 17 at the Rock Church in Monroe (16891 146th St. SE). Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. The tryouts are open to women ages 18 and older. Applications are available at www.explosionbasketball.net.

Football

— Tryouts for the 2009 Marysville Wolverines Arena Youth Football program’s senior team (ages 14-15) are scheduled from 6-8 p.m. on Jan. 14 at the Soccer Dome in Arlington. For more information, visit www.marysvillewolverines.com.

— The Snohomish County Vikings semipro football team is holding a meeting for prospective players at 7 p.m. on Jan. 15 at the PUD office in Edmonds (21018 Highway 99). Players must be at least 18 years old.

Martial Arts

— The Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Department is offering Tae Kwon Doe Classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning Feb. 2 and running through Feb. 25. The program is for ages 6 and older. Sessions are available from 5-6 p.m. and from 6-7 p.m. The cost is $39 for residents and $43 for non-residents. For more information, call 425-670-5732.

Rowing

— The Lake Stevens Rowing Club is offering a Try Rowing Event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 17. The event is open to both youths and adults. For more information, call 1-888-769-5772.

Volleyball

— The Mill Creek Volleyball Club is offering a Developmental Program for players in grades 7-9. Sessions are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 18, Feb. 8, Feb. 22, March 8, March 22 and April 5. At the end of the program, the players will compete in a USA Volleyball tournament. The cost is $200 (which includes a $65 USA Volleyball fee). Enrollment is limited to 30 players.
