The Seahawks have confirmed that RB LenDale White has been waived.
Since Seattle traded for White during the draft, the thought was that an in-shape White (he came to post-draft workouts weighing in at 219 pounds) could compete for playing time, and that he could thrive playing for Pete Carroll, his former college coach. Well apparently things didn’t go according to plan, because White gone only a month after the team acquired him.
Here’s the release from the team:
Renton, Wash. – The Seattle Seahawks have waived running back LenDale White, the team announced this afternoon.
“It became apparent at this time that LenDale was not ready to be a member of the Seattle Seahawks,” said General Manager John Schneider. “It just did not appear to be the right fit at this point in our program. We wish LenDale all the best with his future.”
Seattle acquired White in a draft-day trade with the Tennessee Titans that included defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, a fourth-round pick (#111, CB Walter Thurmond) and a sixth-round pick (#185, TE Anthony McCoy) for Seattle’s fourth-round pick (#104) and sixth-round pick (#176).
