The teams are in the locker room for halftime and Oregon is up 17-7. But it could be a lot worse. The Huskies have benefited from two turnovers which has helped make up for a pretty pathetic offensive performance by Washington.
There hasn’t been much of a running game. It hasn’t been terrible, but certainly not good enough. But the biggest problem is the dropped passes, which from time-to-time has been an issue for the UW. Carl Bonnell looks decent, but there must have been four or five drops. He threw an excellent pass to Cody Ellis on the last drive of the half that could have been a big gain but it was dropped. The offensive line is allowing a lot of pressure to get to Bonnell as well. On one play, Oregon’s Darius Sanders went through Ben Ossai like Ossai was made of water.
The defense has been OK, but I wouldn’t say it’s been good. Oregon is running on the Huskies extremely easily. Some of that had to do with the nickel defense being on the field. C.J. Wallace and Greyson Gunheim are both playing very well but the defensive line as a whole is being pushed around.
Oregon gets the ball to start the second half and if it scores, the UW could be in trouble. If the Huskies can get out of it without giving up points, it could still be a game.
We’ll be back with some stats before the start of the second half.
