I’m here at Sun Devil Stadium. For those wondering how much of a factor weather might be, it didn’t get too hot today and the sun is down now, so the game-time temperature should be in the mid to upper 70s.
From looking at the scoreboard clock counting down to kickoff, it looks like we’re starting closer to 7:30 than the originally scheduled 7:15.
There’s a nice view from the press box here. We’ve got the campus to our right, a river (I should really find out what it’s called) to our left, and some mountains off in the distance (though we can’t really see them anymore because it’s dark, but I promise there were mountains there earlier).
Saw a sign on the way in that was trying to be funny for one reason, but ended up being funny for an entirely different one. One of the fraternities here had a sign hanging from their house that said “The only thing Huskie about the UW is the women.” That’s right, the singular of Huskies is apparently now Huskie. It’s bad enough the guys spent the time painting an unoriginal sign, but it’s good comedy that they took the time but didn’t know how to spell Husky. Kind of makes you wonder about the educational standards down here.
I’ll check in with some updates during the game, then again after with some quotes, which, thanks to the late kickoff, won’t make it into your paper tomorrow.
