CPC-Bothell beats Murphy, stays unbeaten

BOTHELL — In a highly contested volleyball match between two of the top three teams in the Cascade Conference, Cedar Park Christian-Bothell remained undefeated with a 3-0 victory over Archbishop Murphy on Monday night. Set scores were 26-24, 25-21, 25-22.

“It was just back and forth,” Archbishop Murphy head coach Brandon Jones said. “Every set could have gone either way.”

The Wildcats held a 23-21 in the first set before the Eagles rebounded to win five of the next six points and take a 1-0 lead. The Eagles used their momentum from the first set to build a four point lead early in the second set, and the Wildcats were never able to rebound.

“We fought them back, but they are an amazing team and you can’t give them a four point lead,” Jones said.

Sam and Natalie Hayward combined for 23 kills and 21 digs and McKenna Palmer recorded 35 assists for the Wildcats.

“Thats the toughest match we played all season, but I thought it was the best match we’ve played all season,” Jones said. “There was no quit in our kids tonight.”
