The Glacier Peak and Snohomish boys soccer teams both had outstanding seasons.
Snohomish High, a longtime power both locally and statewide, advanced to the Class 4A state tournament and lost in the first round against Federal Way, which ended up placing fourth.
And Glacier Peak, of course, won the 3A state championship in just its second season, its first with a senior class.
Now it’s time to find out which team is better, albeit in a more laid-back atmosphere. Glacier Peak and Snohomish will play an exhibition game on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium. The game will be known as the All Snohomish Cup and organizers plan to make it an annual tradition. Here are more details, provided by Linda Kautz, secretary for the Glacier Peak High School Boys Soccer Booster Club.
On June 5th, the Snohomish High School and Glacier Peak High School will be having the first All Snohomish Cup for their two soccer teams. An Alumni game is also planned. It is hoped that this will be the first of an ongoing tradition. Snohomish is a huge soccer community; with the addition of the second high school in the community, a cross-town friendly between these two highly regarded varsity teams should be a fun event.
The booster clubs from both teams are coordinating the event. The event is a “donation” gate, with any proceeds going to support the teams.
