NFL teams have to trim their rosters down to 53 by later this afternoon, so pretty soon we’ll know what the Seahawks roster is going to look like.
So will we see any big surprises today? Any veterans going to get cut that we don’t know of. Peter King of Sports Illustrated posted on his Twitter account today that he talked to Tim Ruskell, who told him the Seahawks won’t cut receiver Deion Branch, a rumor that has been floating around, and that the Seahawks will keep all of their 2009 draft picks. The second piece of news there is the more surprising one.
If the Seahawks do keep all their picks, that means Cameron Morrah will be the third tight end, which could be considered a surprise, but that also means safety Courtney Green, a seventh round pick, will be on the roster, which not a lot of people have been predicting. Of course that also would mean Nick Reed, one of the D-linemen on the bubble, would make it too.
Other things we’ll find out today:
Which receiver(s) will make the team in addition to the obvious four?
Which kicker won the job?
What D-linemen made the cut?
And most importantly, will Marcus Trufant start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list?
I’ll be back with the answers later this afternoon.
