SPOKANE, Wash. — Cory Hoveskeland scored 20 points and Darrington held off a late rally to beat Northwest Christian of Lacey 68-65 in the first round of the Class 2B boys state basketball tournament on Wednesday.
Hoveskeland hit four 3-pointers in the third quarter to push Darrington into the lead.
Ryan Fox scored 28 for Northwest Christian and brought them within one late in the game on a breakaway layup. But Northwest Christian could never retake the lead thanks to tough Darrington defense.
Jeremy Monteith added 16 as Darrington improved to 16-4.
