Three weeks after being let go as head football coach at Archbishop Murphy, Dave Ward finds himself in a holding pattern once again.
This time he’s hoping the news is better.
Ward recently interviewed with Sedro-Woolley concerning its vacant head football coaching position and is now waiting to hear if he got the job and the school has a teaching position attached to it.
“Sedro-Woolley contacted me shortly after I was released,” said Ward, who was let go after waiting a month on administrative leave as a school-formed committee evaluated the entire football program. “I really like what they’re doing up there.”
Ward’s father and uncles graduated from Sedro-Woolley and Ward said he has fond memories of going out to the small Skagit Valley town as a young boy.
“They have a great atmosphere for football,” Ward said.
If Ward does get the job he’ll be taking over for former Lynden assistant coach Pat Murphy, who left to take over the Burlington-Edison football program after guiding S-W to a 7-3 record in 2011.
