Distance runners help M-P win meet

EVERETT – Marysville-Pilchuck (103 points) used 11 first-place finishes en route to a dominating performance defeating Cascade (59) and Arlington (27) in a Western Conference North meet at Everett Memorial Stadium Thursday.

“Marysville-Pilchuck’s distance runners did a great job today,” Cascade coach Craig Bekins said.

Leading the way for Marysville-Pilchuck was Brianna Lundberg, who won the 200-meter dash and long jump events.

Brittany Bekins of Cascade won the 100 and 300 hurdles and Arlington’s Sarah Hegna had the high mark in the pole vault at 10 feet, 6 inches.

Snohomish 96, Stanwood 70, Oak Harbor 24: Lucy Miller led a strong Snohomish showing in the Wesco North meet with wins in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races.
