RENTON — Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren told KIRO radio this morning that quarterback Matt Hasselbeck met with a team doctor on Thursday afternoon and could be back on the field for next Sunday’s game against Arizona.
Hasselbeck has yet to practice this week, but there is a chance he’ll work with the scout team this afternoon.
“I think there might be a chance (Hasselbeck can play) next week,” Holmgren told KIRO on Friday morning. “I’ve been hoping all season that it will be ‘next week,’ and I think we’re there now.”
Holmgren added that Hasselbeck’s visit with the doctor “went well.”
Hasselbeck told KIRO on his Thursday morning radio show that he hopes to be back as soon as possible.
When told of Holmgren’s target return date of next Sunday, Hasselbeck said: “I guess this is his way of putting the pressure on. If there’s any question about him still pushing, still grinding, still being very fired up about this season, he is. That’s hist style. And it’s probably going to work. I’ll probably be out there (on the practice field Friday), and hopefully that will bode well for next week.”
