The lead item in my prep notebook in today’s paper (read the entire article here) highlights some of the area’s most impressive football teams through four weeks of the season.
But because of space limitations in the paper, part of my notebook got chopped. Thankfully I can turn to the almighty Internet, where stories don’t have to fit into an exact space on a specific page. So here is the portion of my notebook that didn’t make it into today’s paper. It gives credit to the small-classification squads.
Wesco teams don’t have a monopoly on the local football spotlight. Archbishop Murphy (4-0, ranked No. 3 in 2A by WashingtonPreps.com) and South Whidbey (4-0, No. 9 in 2A) of the Cascade Conference are still unbeaten. And Darrington (4-0) of the Northwest 1A/2B league is also off to an impressive start. The Loggers have scored 39 points or more in three games and have allowed an average of less than nine points per contest.
