Doubles sweep boosts Warriors

MUKILTEO – A doubles sweep and two three-set victories by freshmen led Edmonds-Woodway to a girls tennis victory Thursday.

The Warriors grabbed a 6-1 Wesco South win over Kamiak to remain undefeated.

Freshman Michelle Nelson and Amanda Waldron at No. 1 and No. 2 singles captured victories in three-set matches to lead the Warriors.

“They both played well,” E-W coach Dan Crist said. “They also played different when they had to.”

German exchange students Shirin Ziai and Anna Hendrich teamed up at No. 1 doubles, leading the Vikings to a sweep of the doubles matches.
