MELBOURNE, Australia — Roger Federer rallied from two sets down for the fourth time in his career to stay on track for a record-equaling 14th Grand Slam singles title.
The second-seeded Federer beat Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic 4-6, 6-7 (4), 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in a fourth-round match Sunday that appeared to be lost early by the Swiss star on Rod Laver Arena.
But Federer recovered to level the match, then took a 4-0 lead in the fifth set to remain in the hunt to tie Pete Sampras’ career record for Grand Slam singles titles. Federer served out with two aces.
