950 KJR’s Dave Mahler reported Tuesday that Seahawks defensive tackle Colin Cole recently had surgery on his left ankle, and won’t likely be ready for the start of training camp.
Cole told Mahler, “I don’t think I’ll be cleared right away. Hope to be back soon as soon as they’ll let me.”
Cole injured his ankle in Seattle’s loss to Oakland and missed five games before returning to action. He told Mahler that he’s currently wearing a protective boot. If he isn’t ready when training camp starts, the Seahawks would likely place him on the physically unable to perform list. Being on the PUP list wouldn’t keep Cole from returning to action during camp, but if he remained on the list when the season started, he would have to sit out the first six games of the season.
