Oregon leads 24-17 at halftime after the Huskies kicked a field goal to pull within a touchdown.
The Ducks have outgained Washington 334 to 209, and have 20 first downs to Washington’s eight.
Louis Rankin leads the Huskies with 42 rushing yards on four carries, while Jake Locker has nine carries for 31 yards. Locker is six for 12 passing for 132 and two touchdown. Anthony Russo leads the Huskies with 90 yards on two catches, including an 83-yard touchdown.
Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon is 12 for 21 for 140 yards with one touchdown and one interception. That pick, which came on the final play of the half—a hail mary that Byron Davenport caught rather than knock down—was only Dixon’s third interception of the season, though it didn’t hurt the Ducky any.
Dixon has also rushed for 44 yards on eight carries. Jonathan Stewart, who last year rushed for 159 yards and two touchdowns against Washington, had a monster first half with 144 yards and two scores on 18 carries.
Now comes the dreaded third quarter for the Huskies. It has been well documented this week, but it’s worth mentioning again here: Washington has been outscored 56-0 in the third quarter of its last four games. The Huskies will get the ball to start the half, and a score early would likely do wonders for the team’s confindence in the second half.
