Tri-City beats Everett 6-2 to snap the Frogs’ two-game, season-opening win streak

PASCO — The Everett AquaSox are no longer undefeated.

The Sox suffered their first loss of the season Sunday night, falling to the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-2 in Northwest League baseball action.

Everett had won its first two games of the NWL season.

The AquaSox jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a lead-off home run by Miguel Perez. Tri-City tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Nick Gatewood.

Everett took a 2-1 lead on a run-scoring groundout by Perez in the top of the fifth, but the Dust Devils pulled ahead for good in the seventh when Jordy Barley hit a three-run home run.

Damon Casetta-Stubbs continued a streak of stellar starting pitching for Everett. He allowed just one run in five innings and struck out six. In the three-game series, Everett’s starting pitchers allowed just one run in 12 innings (an ERA of 0.75) and struck out nine.

Travis Kuhn (0-1) took the loss for Everett. He allowed three runs in two innings of work.

Tom Colleti got the win for Tri-City with two innings of shutout relief. He struck out three.
