E-W beats Royals to remain perfect

EDMONDS — The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors maintained first place and their perfect record with a 6-1 win over Lynnwood Monday.

Eric Jones and Alex Marier won their first varsity match 6-4, 6-4 over Lynnwood’s Phillip Magnanet and Zack Wieben at No. 3 doubles to lead the Warriors.

Edmonds-Woodway coach Dan Crist was also pleased with the play of Ryan Warren at No. 3 singles. Warren beat Lynnwood’s Daniel Yuen after losing the first set 1-6.

“Ryan Warren had a real good comeback,” Crist said.

Lake Stevens 4, Marysville-Pilchuck 3:. At Marysville, the Vikings rearranged all three doubles teams to pick up their first win of the season in the Wesco North match. Mitch Giddens switched from the No. 1 doubles team to No. 3 and teamed with Jake Orwiler, who usually plays No. 2 doubles, to win 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 and lead the Vikings to the victory.

At Marysville-Pilchuck H.S.

Shorewood 6, Mountlake Terrace 1:. At Shoreline, the Hawks swept the doubles matches en route to the Wesco South victory. Brett Muskavage was Mountlake Terrace’s lone winner, bouncing back from a first-set 6-2 defeat to take the next two sets 6-4, 6-2 to beat Shorewood’s Erik Kim at No. 4 singles

Stanwood at Cascade:. The Wesco North match was rained out and rescheduled for today at 3:45 p.m. at Cascade High School.

Shorecrest at Jackson:. The Wesco South match was rained out and rescheduled for today at 3:45 p.m. at Jackson High School.

Mariner at Meadowdale:. The Wesco South match was rained out and rescheduled for today at 3:45 p.m. at Meadowdale High School.

Volleyball

Highland Christian 3, Skykomish 2:. At Skykomish, Trailing 11-7 in the decisive fifth set, the Knights (3-2 league and overall) rallied to win 15-13 to take the Northwest 1B league match. The Knights won the first two sets 25-21, 25-23, before Skykomish won the next two, 26-24 and 25-23.

Highland Christian was led by Kaila Graber’s 19 digs, Chelsea Graber’s 15 kills and Bethany Fuller’s five aces. Skykomish dropped to 0-5, 0-5.
