E-W closer to South crown

MUKILTEO – Can’t stop the rain or the Warriors.

In the last real challenge to its run to the division championship, Edmonds-Woodway won a rain-shortened Wesco South boys tennis meet 4-1 over Kamiak Friday afternoon.

The Warriors lead the division standings by a meet over Jackson with two to play. They face winless Mariner and a 3-11 Mountlake Terrace team next week.

Kamiak’s Edwin Lee won at No. 1 singles to give the Knights their only point of the meet.

Once Edmonds-Woodway claimed victory in the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches the meet was called.

Everett 4, Meadowdale 2: At Everett, Francisco Zambrano and Alex McKee came back from a first-set 3-6 loss to win back-to-back sets and help the Seagulls win the Wesco South meet. The third doubles match was tied at one set each and 4-4 in set three before the match was called due to rain.

Cascade 6, Lake Stevens 1: At Lake Stevens, Cascade, the defending division champion, continued to roll through the Wesco North, improving its record to 13-0.
