WOODINVILLE – It may have been a non-conference contest, but Edmonds-Woodway boys soccer coach Tony Gilman was enthused about the Warriors’ 3-1 victory over Woodinville Saturday.
Peter Boos scored Edmonds-Woodway’s first goal at 29 minutes off an assist by Ryan Camden. Aaron Lunberg followed 10 minutes later with a shot set up by Devon Young. Hawk Mummey sealed the win with a goal at 78 minutes.
Mummey also tended goal for the Warrior’s (1-0 overall) in the first half. Nick Hanratty plugged the net in the second half.
Woodinville’s lone goal of the game was in the 79th minute.
Before the game, Gilmore was “cautiously optimistic,” but “very pleased after.”
“We played 16 people,” Gilmore said. “It was a concern after we graduated so many people last year, but everyone played well today. It was a good sign for such a young team to win so solidly.”
