It was a remarkable fall for several Edmonds-Woodway High School teams, especially the football squad, which ended its season this past Saturday with a loss in the Class 4A state semifinals.
Many Warriors student-athletes also excelled in academics. According to Edmonds School District athletic director Terri McMahan, the following E-W teams earned special recognition from the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association.
WIAA Distinguished Recognition winners (listed by team)
Girls soccer, 3.352 cumulative grade-point average
Football, 3.0 GPA
WIAA Outstanding Recognition winners
Girls swimming, 3.702 GPA
Girls cross country, 3.645 GPA
Boys tennis, 3.508 GPA
Volleyball, 3.507 GPA
The E-W’s girls swimming team, coached by Kate Trettevik, had the second-highest team GPA among all of the state’s 4A schools, McMahan said.
