Eight local players earn all-state honors

Edmonds-Woodway High School standouts Tony Heard and Antoinne Wafer headline a group of eight local athletes who were named Wednesday to the 2007 Associated Press All-State Football Teams.

Heard, a junior tailback/linebacker, was named Class 4A co-player of the year, sharing the honor with Lewis &Clark senior Alex Shaw, also a tailback/linebacker. Wafer made the 4A team as a defensive back and a kick returner.

The other local 4A honorees were Snohomish’s Nick Oglesby (offensive line) and Cascade’s Nick Morrison (linebacker).

Four other area players received all-state team recognition: 2A — Robin Nuyen, Sultan wide receiver; David Monell, South Whidbey defensive line; Jonathon Kriegbaum, Cedarcrest linebacker; and 2B — Conner Rounds, Darrington linebacker.

O’Dea senior running back Johri Fogerson was named the 3A player of the year and the overall state player of the year.
