English driver to join Panther in Indy Lights

INDIANAPOLIS — Formula 3 Euroseries driver Martin Plowman will drive for Panther Racing next season in the Indy Racing League’s developmental Firestone Indy Lights series.

Panther Racing announced the move Wednesday.

The 20-year-old driver from England was with the Volkswagen team in F3 last season. He won the 2004 Asia Pacific championship, and in 2006-07 raced in the Formula Renault Italy and Eurocup series.

Panther also recently signed former IRL champion and Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon for the 2009 IndyCar Series.
