Everett boats bring home 10 medals from Brentwood Regatta

The Everett Rowing Association had 10 boats win medals at the Brentwood Regatta, held April 29 through May 1 at Brentwood College in Mill Bay, British Columbia.

Leading the way for the ERA was the B novice men’s 8, which placed first. The crew included Nich Lemert (Jackson High School), Matthew Baker (Glacier Peak), Koa Dickson (Jackson), Nick Joy (Glacier Peak), Antonio Pinion (Everett), Charlie Havener (Everett), Tyler Norby (Heatherwood Middle School), Ethan Senn (Arlington) and coxswain Declan McAlister (Cascade).

Silver medals went to the association’s B women’s 8, varsity women’s 8, A lightweight men’s 8, B lightweight women’s 4 and the A women’s 8. Receiving third-place bronze medals were the varsity men’s 8, A JV men’s 8, B women’s 4 and the varsity women’s 4.

Next up for the Everett rowers is the junior district championships, scheduled for May 20-22 at Lake Vancouver in Vancouver, Wash.

Ex-Panther Jackson honored

Vanessa Jackson, a graduate of Snohomish High School and a freshman at Penn State Beaver, was named the Penn State University Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 18-24, and the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Softball Pitcher of the Week for the same week.

Jackson pitched complete games in four starts and earned three wins. In her 291/3 innings she allowed just three earned runs, struck out 22 and compiled a 0.92 ERA. She also earned a save.
