Everett girls open with home win over Sedro-Woolley

EVERETT – There’s nothing like playing your season opener in the sweet confines of your home gym.

Everett cruised by Sedro-Woolley 82-36 in a non-conference girls basketball game Monday night at Everett High School.

The Seagulls shot 49 percent from the floor and 80 percent from the free throw line.

Everett’s Molly Loesche scored 16 points on 8-for-12 shooting from the field, while teammate Janelle Hill scored 17, including 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Emily Olson had 12 points and Tiffany Barquest had 10 points and seven rebounds

“We showed a lot more patience offensively in the second half,” said Everett head coach Tara Tri. “We’re off to a good start, ready to play Edmonds-Woodway on Friday.”

Sultan 46, Ingraham 43: Lola Nelson scored 18 points and hit the eventual game-winning basket with 20 seconds to play to lead the Turks to the non-conference victory. Tamara Keyes had 18 points for Ingraham.
