EVERETT — Everett remained undefeated atop the Wesco 3A after shutting out second-place Shorecrest 2-0 in a girls soccer game Tuesday night at Lincoln Field.
The first and game-winning goal came 19 minutes into the second half when Rosie Sittauer headed in a ball from Madeleine Reed, who had just taken a corner kick for Everett.
Shorecrest nearly tied it up early in the second half when it was granted an indirect free kick that went into the goal without touching another player. The goal was called back, but Everett head coach Kosta Pitharoulis called it “kind of a hairy moment.”
Everett padded its lead with a 68th-minute insurance goal from Bailey McMullen. Haley Ayers received a pass from a wide midfield palyer and tapped it across the box to McMullen, who took a left-footed shot that dipped below the keeper’s dive into the goal.
Cherise Shaver and McKayla Fox combined to get the shutout for Everett. Frida Swensen and Ashley Beeson each played a half as keeper for Shorecrest.
Everett is now 12-0-1 league, 12-0-1 overall, while Shorecrest fell to 10-3-1, 10-3-1.
