Everett grapplers remain unbeaten

EVERETT – What started out as a close, see-saw affair ended with the Everett boys wrestling team remaining undefeated with a 59-18 victory over Cascade at Cascade High School Thursday.

Cascade wrestling coach Todd Freeman said the beginning of the Wesco North meet “went back and forth,” until Cascade hit the “meat of (Everett’s) line-up.”

The meet started with the heavyweight class, as Parker Burns, who took third in state last year, got the Seagulls out to a lead. Everett (3-0 league, 4-0 overall) won the next bout before Cascade came back with three wins.

Then the Bruins faced what Freeman called Everett’s “130-145 pound studs” and said the match quickly turned into either “pin or get pinned.”

The match of the meet was the 152-pound fight between Ladan Cook (Cascade) and Cris Little (Everett), Freeman said.

“There was non-stop action back and forth” Freeman said. The match ended in a 4-3 decision in favor of Cook.

Cascade (0-2, 0-3) is looking forward to the rest of the season. After competing against such teams as Snohomish (currently 4-0) and Mariner (4-0) Freeman feels “things are looking good (for his) young team.”
