Everett one win from state

SEDRO-WOOLLEY – One win to go.

Everett advanced to Saturday’s 3A District 1 winner-to-state championship game with a pair of victories Tuesday at Janicki Fields.

The Seagulls defeated Squalicum 10-0 in six innings in the first round, then needed 10 innings to beat fellow Wesco North member Arlington 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

In district tournament play, the international tiebreaker kicks in after eight innings and both Arlington and Everett took advantage to score runs in the ninth inning, breaking a scoreless tie.

Arlington’s Lisa Allen drove in a run with a single in the top of the ninth. Everett got even on Ally Pappas’ RBI triple in the bottom of the ninth.

In the 10th Everett scored the game-winner on an Elizabeth Ritchie single.
