Everett second quarter

EVERETT – Watch out Wesco, Boyce will be Boyce.

Junior running back Justin Boyce rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Everett Seagulls to a 33-18 victory over the Shorecrest Scots in a Western Conference South Division season opener for both schools Friday night at Everett Memorial Stadium.

Boyce, who carried the ball 23 times in the game, scored touchdowns on three short runs in the second quarter as Everett turned a 3-0 deficit into a 26-10 lead by halftime.

“We put it all together,” said Everett coach Paul Lawrence who has announced he will retire after this season. “We had a lot of young kids on the field, seven or eight juniors. I was real happy for our backups. We had a lot of starters go out with cramps.”

Shorecrest got within 26-18 in the third quarter when quarterback Jon Glancy threw the second of his two touchdown passes to Jesse Hoffman. Glancy completed 12 of 23 passes for 176 yards.
