EVERETT – Everett reeled off 24 consecutive points with four matches remaining to defeat Mountlake Terrace 42-26 Thursday and win the Western Conference South Division dual-meet championship.
With a slim 19-18 lead in hand, Everett began its charge, which included three consecutive pins from Tyler Hill (112), Tim Irwin (119) and Bryan Irwin (125). Zach Ordona won by forfeit at 130 pounds to round out the Seagulls’ 24-point rally.
“From 112, we really went to work,” Everett assistant coach Brian Elliott said. “They sealed it up right there.”
Brian Turner, at 215, pinned his opponent in 1:12 to conclude an early run by Everett, which consisted of four consecutive victories starting at 160 pounds.
“We have eight strong wrestlers we can always count on and it begins at 160 pounds,” Elliott said.
Mike Olsen (275) pinned his opponent in the second round and Eric Joansson also posted a pin to lead Mountlake Terrace.
