KENNEWICK – The Everett Community College women’s basketball team won its opening-round game at the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges tournament late Thursday, downing Tacoma 78-75.
The Trojans (24-5) play Yakima Valley at 8 p.m. today in a quarterfinal game at the Toyota Center in Kennewick.
In Thursday’s game, which ended around midnight, Tacoma had a final chance to tie the score but missed a 3-point shot with 11 seconds remaining. The Trojans then ran out the clock.
Britni Rathke led Everett with 19 points and 15 rebounds. She was one of four Everett players who scored in double figures. The others were Oliana Seanoa (18), Kristin Moore (17) and Rachael Boehme (16).
