PORTLAND, Ore. – The power was with the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night.

Everett scored three power-play goals, and the Silvertips defeated the Portland Winter Hawks 4-2.

Zach Hamill, Eric Doyle and Moises Gutierrez each tallied a goal on the power play for Everett (9-1-0-1), which finished 3-for-8 with the man advantage.

Jason Fransoo also scored, Peter Mueller had two assists and Leland Irving made 29 saves for Everett, which won its fourth straight.

Robert Klinkhammer and Matt Sokol scored for Portland (3-7-0-0), which lost its third straight. Former Silvertip property Chris Ward, making his first appearance in the WHL, made 26 saves in net for the Winter Hawks.

Hamill’s goal gave him points in all 11 of Everett’s games this season. The 11-game point streak is the longest in franchise history, eclipsing the 10-game streaks compiled by Mueller and Torrie Wheat last season.

Irving also had a point, assisting on Doyle’s goal for his first WHL point in three seasons.

Everett took control early with two goals in the final two minutes of the first period.

First, at 18 minutes, 31 seconds, Fransoo floated a shot toward goal from the point that found the back of the net, making it 1-0.

Then with 23.1 seconds remaining in the period with the Tips on the power play, nice passing from Jonathan Harty and Brandon Campos opened up an easy tap-in goal for Hamill to make it 2-0.

Portland pulled a goal back on the power play 3:08 into the second period. The Winter Hawks put heavy pressure on the Everett goal and were finally rewarded when Klinkhammer scored on a rebound to make it 2-1.

But Everett restored its two-goal lead at 8:47. The Tips were on the power play when Doyle took the puck coast to coast, made a move around Ward and scored, making it 3-1.

The Tips put the game away with a five-on-three power-play goal 1:50 into the third, Gutierrez scoring on a rebound after Mueller’s shot from the point.

The Winter Hawks scored a consolation goal at 10:51, Sokol putting a shot from the point past Irving.
