EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Emeralds scored in all but one inning Wednesday en route to a 10-4 win over the Everett AquaSox in the series finale of a five-game set before 3,277 fans at PK Park.
The AquaSox (13-21) have dropped five of their last six games and lost four of five to the Emeralds (20-14). Everett returns home for a five-game series against the Boise Hawks, beginning at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
Brandon Hughes had four hits and Jhonny Bethencourt had three hits and scored four runs to lead Eugene. Enrique De Los Rios earned the win as he scattered seven hits and walked a pair while allowing two runs in five innings.
Jose Santiago took the loss for Everett as he surrendered six runs on eight hits in five innings.
The Emeralds took a 2-0 lead after two, and their advantage swelled to five in the third when Bethancourt scored on a groundout, Gustavo Polanco came home on a wild pitch and Hughes scored on an error.
Everett cut the deficit to 5-1 in the top of the fourth when Juan Camacho scored on an RBI single by Aaron Stroosma.
The Emeralds pushed the lead back to five in the bottom of the inning, but Austin Grebeck’s solo home run in the top of the fifth made it 6-2.
Miguel Amaya singled in Bethancourt to make it 7-2 in the sixth, but back-to-back doubles and an RBI groundout cut Everett’s deficit to 7-4 in the seventh. That was as close as the Frogs got as the Emeralds tacked on one more in the seventh and two more in the eighth.
Grebeck, Stroosma, Joseph Rosa and Ronald Rosario all had a pair of hits for Everett.
