MONROE – Evergreen Speedway will celebrate some history today with “Turn Back the Clock Night,” starting at 7 p.m. tonight.
Drivers from the past 51 years will be honored, as will the 40th anniversary of Figure Eight racing at the track.
Racing will feature the Super Stocks, Bombers, Mini-Stocks, Stinger 8s, Super Figure Eights and Extreme Contact Figure Eights. The Hornets will also compete.
Shane Harding, who came in a close second to John Zaretzke last week, continues to hold a slight 10-point lead over rookie Jason Fraser in the Super Stocks division. Fraser remains close to Harding, despite Harding’s six wins to Fraser’s none.
Both will be pushed by Zaretzke again this week. Zaretzke has decided to not defend his points title this year but has been dominant on the occasions he has raced at Evergreen. Gaylon Stewart is third in the points race but suffered a hit last week when he failed to finish, falling 54 points behind Harding.
Naima Lang is getting a big challenge to his Bombers points championship. Lang trails Travis Blackwood by four points with five races remaining. Not only that, but eight points separate the third-through-sixth spots in the Bombers race.
In other points races, Jamie Richardson leads Tony Bunkleman by 18 points in the Mini-Stocks division; Greg Estes holds a slight nine-point lead over Steve Baumgartner in the Stinger 8s class; Steve Peters leads John Carlson by 29 points in the Super Figure Eight division; and Josh Beckel leads defending champion Noah Chandler by 64 points in the Extreme Figure Eights points race.
