Mike Middleton finished third in the feature but it was more than enough to repeat as champion of the Stinger 8 division.
On the white flag lap, Seth Funden bumped Ben Chandler out of the way coming out of the left-hander then won the drag race to the checkered flag.
Chandler held on for second with Sean Peters coming in fourth.
Josh Young entered the night second in the points, 64 points behind Middleton, and he narrowed the margin a bit by finishing better in his heat race. But he headed to the pits on lap 4 of the feature — which was shortened to 20 laps due to time — and finished well back in the feature.
Young finished the season second in points.
Jill Lang won the race, but Bomber division defending champion Lane Sundholm won the title, and the post-race burn-out contest.
Sundholm finished third behind Lang and former champion Duane Schosbeck, but it was enough to edge Jim Foti in the season points battle.
Foti finished fourth and Russ Hales was fifth.
Sundholm entered the night with a three-point lead over Foti. That margin was increased to five-points after the heat races.
“Back to back,” Sundholm said from victory stage. “My crew is incredible … I’ve gotten a lot of help and that’s what kept me going.”
It was Lang’s fourth feature win of the season. On victory stage she laughed and said “Give me that (winner’s) sticker,” to track announcer Terry Buell.
Lang took the lead on lap 3 then held off Foti and Schosbeck through two restarts.
“When Jill starts up front there is no catching her,” Schosbeck said after the race.
Schosbeck passed Foti for second place on a restart on lap 18, but didn’t seem to have enough car to catch up to Lang.
Sundholm started near the back, but moved up to fifth by lap 10. He passed Foti entering turn 1 on lap 22, and briefly challenged Schosbeck for second place nine laps later. But after a lap of side-by-side racing, Schosbeck edged back out front.
Sundholm’s car may not have survived the post-race burnout. It died after putting out an impressive plume of tire smoke and had to be pushed off.
Lang’s car didn’t produce the same volume of smoke, but left the frontstretch under its own power.
Mark Weedin continued the roll of season champions finishing third, coming in behind Steve Green and Nat Barber in the feature, but taking the track title.
Weedin finished in front of 2007 champion Chuck Richard, who was second in the season standings, 13 points behind Weedin, entering the night.
But Richard was black-flagged in the earlier heat races, which gave Weedin an insurmountable 20-point lead entering the feature event.
From victory stage Weedin announced he would not return to weekly racing next season. “We will not run for points again,” he said. “We may come out on occasion but other than that we’re done.”
“We put a lot of effort into this,” he continued, before addressing the crowd. “Thank you all for coming out and supporting us.”
Green passed Barber for the lead on lap 19 of the 35-lap feature. Barber had built up a large lead but a caution on lap 16 gave Green a chance to edge past Craig Lang, who was running second.
John Carlson made it 3-of-4 for defending champions repeating on Saturday night.
Carlson entered the night with a 71-point lead in the Super Figure Eight standings, meaning he didn’t even need to start the feature to clinch his third overall title.
Which was a good thing, because his car overheated before the feature race and wouldn’t start.
Carlson’s car was pushed to the frontstretch so he could accept his champion’s trophy.
“It’s been an awesome year, it was sad not to be able to run tonight,” Carlson said from victory stage. “The way this year has been I can’t complain.”
Steve Cox and Troy Simianer battled throughout the 40-lap feature, with Cox taking the first-place trophy and Simianer coming in second.
Ryan Gunderson was third and Doug Delfel was fourth in the feature race.
